Monochromatic Spring Layers – SS17 PT. III

March 13, 2017

This spotty weather has us hoping for better days to come. This shirting option from Garbstore can be a key transitioning layer for shaking off the cold, and looking into the spring. The Flight Shirt x2 has a simple military inspired feel to it. In this look Donnell wears it as an over shirt. We love wearing it this way because of the fit and straight bottom hem. The boxy fit isn’t restricting and can easily go over something bulkier than just a shirt, if that’s your vibe. Donnell was feeling idealistic about the spring, so he went with an Oliver Spencer Eaton collar shirt in charcoal. When it comes to great shirting we’d be hard pressed to leave Oliver Spencer out of the conversation. The attention to detail and solid construction keeps them among our favourites. The rounded collar on this gem is a good contrast for the peak collar on the Garbstore shirt. It’s hem hangs just below Donnell’s top layer for an easy look.

When we wear boxy or oversized shirts, we find straight cut pants can help keep the look consistent. For this one, Donnell went with Stan Ray’s Rip Stop Tapered pants in Navy. In these photos, the bottoms have been pin rolled at the ankle to slim them down a little more. A hint of blue adds some colour to this monochromatic fit. Throw in your favourite sneakers, or a pair of boots. Either can bring this look together.
