Gitman Bros. gets us started with a look at their latest collection of American-made offerings. Operating out of Ashland, Pennsylvania since 1978, the company’s commitment to quality helped them outfit a generation of Americans in their highly sought after shirts. In 2008 their contemporary label Gitman Vintage was established to reinterpret archival pieces with modern materials and new fits, resulting in an ever-expanding array of styles highlighted by crisp cords, thick flannels and clean-cut oxfords. As far as fit is concerned, the majority of Gitman Vintage shirts are cut in a slim, tailored fashion, fitted with narrow sleeves, a single pocket, high armholes, and a curved hem. The exception to the rule is the all-new Drew shirt which features a relaxed fit, a straight hem, camp collar, and three patch pockets. This fall Uncle Otis has stocked plenty of plaids and a pleasant purple cord to pick from.
Another exceptional option returning to the shop is the Anton brushed flannel, thee staple shirt from famed Danish design house Norse Projects. Crafted in super-soft cotton, this shirt is defined by a regular fit, single pocket, mother of pearl buttons and slightly curved hem. Browse our selection of seven Anton shirts below, suited for the season in hushed hues and polished patterns.
If you’re in the market for a piece fashioned for frequent wear, look no further than the aptly-named Everyday shirt from British-based Universal Works. Composed of an ultra-fine corduroy, this shirt is characterized by its gusseted side seams, curved hem, single patch pocket and regular fit. Appearing in three earthy autumn tones, you’ll have a tough time choosing just one.
Finishing off our foray into fine shirting is the Eaton collar shirt from English label Oliver Spencer. This piece can be picked up in burnt orange or an exclusively-sourced indigo weave. A slim fit, this shirt features a smaller rounded collar, curved hem, gusseted side seams and single pocket. Its remarkably light cotton construction classes it as a convenient mid-layer perfect for the cooler conditions to come.
