Kardo
Kardo is a sustainable menswear brand launched in 2013, offering an alternative to mass-produced fast-fashion by prioritizing small details and traditional techniques in India. Their collections feature fabrics such as Natural Dyed Handloom, Block Printing, IKAT, Natural Indigo Denim, Shibori, and Chikankari embroidery, and they collaborate with handloom weaving communities to preserve these techniques and reduce environmental impact. Kardo employs a specialized "One x One" production method where each item is hand-cut, sewn, and finished by a single tailor, and celebrates their workers by paying fair wages and providing a safe and healthy working environment. Designed and produced in their own workshop in New Delhi, India, Kardo emphasizes the importance of ethical production practices and showcases the provenance of their clothing by attaching a tag to each garment that highlights the hands involved in its making.
