Founded by Japanese craftsman Kichizo Yoshida in 1962, Porter has become a household name in Japan while quickly gaining a cult following in the west. Kichizo Yoshida started his training as a bag craftsman in Tokyo at the early age of 12 before starting his label, Porter, 17 years later. Inspired by the porters who transported bags in hotels, Yoshida coined the motto, “a bag should first of all be a tool to carry goods”.
