Yuketen
The Amandola boot takes its name and spirit from a small mountain village in Italy, where daily life has long been shaped by the terrain. Designed after time spent in the Sibillini Mountains and conversations with local truffle hunters, this boot reflects the kind of footwear once worn for long days spent walking steep, uneven ground. Old photographs and firsthand stories became the foundation, grounding the design in function rather than nostalgia. Amandola’s history stretches back over a thousand years, and that sense of continuity is felt in how people still live and work in the mountains today. This boot is meant to carry that same honesty, where utility, durability, and tradition are inseparable.
Built using a classic Italian stitchdown construction, the upper is stitched directly to a leather midsole before being finished with a Cortina sole, a method long favored by shepherds and mountain workers. The triple stitch stitchdown uses two types of stitching for added strength, while keeping future resoles straightforward and practical. The upper is cut from Virgil leather, sourced from a long established Italian tannery and heavily oiled to age with depth and character over time. A vegetable tanned leather insole continues to mold to the foot with wear, paired with a proven hiking boot last that balances comfort with a purposeful shape. Designed to be worn with thick wool or hiking socks, the fit is intentionally roomy and runs large, staying true to its mountain boot roots while feeling right at home today.
Every Yuketen shoebox includes a shoe bag for storage, along with a small note that explains the leathers used. Yuketen leathers are intentionally finished “naked” to preserve the natural fiber structure, texture, and inherent properties of the hide. This approach allows the leather to age honestly, developing rich character and patina over the life of the product. While only high quality materials are selected, minor cosmetic marks such as scratches or scars may be present. These are purely superficial and do not affect the integrity or durability of the leather.
Yuketen products are expressively handmade, and the marks of handwork are part of what defines them. As a result, small indentations or variations on the leather surface may be visible on some pairs, without impacting performance or wear. These natural nuances are a reflection of the materials and the process, not imperfections. They are what make each Yuketen product unique, honest, and true to its craft.
